WEEKLY WORD – PRAYER (7/27/21)

I was thinking today about… prayer. I will admit that sometimes I don’t do so well with keeping a consistent prayer life. Sometimes I get busy and distracted, only to find that I haven’t connected with God that day. I think one of our stumbling blocks when it comes to prayer can be thinking that we have to always set aside a huge amount of silent time and/or a certain environment to pray.

Now, don’t get me wrong. We should always take at least a little bit of time to be silent and still and speak to God, but I think we can, and should, also bring Him into our daily activities as well. We need to do both in order to keep that connection. For instance, if you have a busy, hectic day, don’t think you can’t pray and connect with God within that busyness.

One day I was walking at the track and my mind was thinking of what I had to do that day, what chores needed to be done, what to cook for dinner, what activities were coming up that week, and how I needed to pray that day as well, and it hit me – I could be praying right now!!

HELLO!!! Here I am walking and it’s a perfect time to converse with God because that’s how I see prayer – a conversation and a time to connect with our creator. Needless to say, that’s what I did and it was wonderful!

My point is, we can’t put prayer in a box with a certain time or environment. Rather, we need to be flexible and open to speaking with God anytime, anywhere. Bring God into your everyday life and you will experience a powerful and fulfilling prayer life.

(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

(Ephesians 6:18) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

(Romans 12:12) Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

(Colossians 4:2) Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

To God be the Glory,
