WEEKLY WORD – REMEMBER (6/1/21)

I was thinking today… how important it is to remember how God has and will continue to work in our lives. There are times when I think – I could have handled that better or how did I fall back on my old ways so fast! But then I remember when I started out as a Christian compared to where I am now, and I see the huge change in my thoughts and actions. I see the growth and how far I have come due to God and His work in me.

We need to remember past challenges and how God got us through them with an inner peace and strength that is unfathomable. Remember the wondrous events in your life that you know were God-directed. Times when things just somehow worked out in such a perfect way. Yes, you will slip up, but you will recognize that you slipped up and think of how any times you didn’t slip up! Thanks be to God!

The bible has tons of passages about remembering past events and how God saved His people. Just look at Exodus. When we get caught up in our trials today, we must remember all that God has done in the past in our own lives and in the world. If you feel like you haven’t grown in your faith, you need to look back on when you started your Christian journey and where you are now and you will be able to see how far you have come with God.

You will continue to grow in your faith as long as you stay focused on God, refresh yourself daily with His word, pray, seek guidance etc. It is a continuing journey. Remember God and what He has done, what He will continue to do, and who He is.

(Deuteronomy 6:12) Be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

(Isaiah 46:3-4) “Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

(Isaiah 46: 9-10) “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand and I will do all that I please.’

(Psalm 143:5) I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.

To God be the Glory,
